When I bought my first used ride in 1995 there weren’t nearly as many mountain bikes for sale as there are today.  It was a beautiful hardtail, Specialized Stumpjumper with an M2 frame.  It was about two years old when I bought it.  I picked it up for about 30% of what the guy had paid full-price for.  It was quick, well-equipped, and very fun to ride.  I enjoyed that used Stumpjumper for nearly 10 years and successfully turned around and sold it for almost as much money as I bought it for.  I was fortunate.
